World Famous 'Voices of Lee' Perform in Atlanta for Women's Benefit Concert
(firmenpresse) - ATLANTA, GA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/24/12 -- Due to cutbacks in state funds and grant support, one of Georgia's most effective job readiness programs for women needs to raise money not just to help even more women, but also to simply cover expenses. In doing so, Every Woman Works is hosting a benefit concert in November at Mount Pisgah featuring the world-renowned Voices of Lee.
Since their debut in September 1994, the Voices of Lee from Lee University, Cleveland, TN, have captivated audiences worldwide. The group has appeared on "Good Morning America" and performed during Christmas at the White House. They have also performed in some of the world's most noted churches, including the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris and England's Ely Cathedral. Most recently, they have appeared on NBC's "Sing-Off" competition for a cappella groups.
Voices of Lee will now perform a free benefit concert for Every Woman Works on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church, North Campus, 2850 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022. The concert, Lifting Voices to Change Lives, begins at 7:30 p.m. and the evening will feature EWW graduates as hostesses and include honoring some of EWW's major supporters, such as Kimberly Clark, GE Women's Network, The Ludacris Foundation, and The Roswell Rotary Club.
Kay Evans, Board Chair of EWW and co-owner of Keller Williams Southeast Region, says she asked the group to perform because of "the depth of their Christian spirit and the joy they bring to every performance." She anticipates that the audience will experience "an unforgettable evening of entertainment." As for the aim of the event, Evans says, "I want people to know how lives are changed and women become productive members of society with the help of EWW. Of course, I would love to receive major financial contributions and long-term support so this ministry can help more women."
Although the concert is free, attendees are asked to make a financial donation so that EWW can continue educating, empowering and employing women.
EWW is a nonprofit job readiness program founded in 2004 by its CEO, Tillie O'Neal-Kyles. Since then, it has served more than 1,000 women transitioning from dependency to self-sufficiency. The 8-week program, which includes life skills, job skills, computer training, and career development, boasts a 90 percent graduation rate with an 85 percent employee retention rate.
