Video Game Veteran John Davison Joins Red Robot Labs
(firmenpresse) - MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/24/12 -- Red Robot Labs, a mobile gaming start-up specializing in location-based games, today announced John Davison, a 20-year video game veteran and media executive, joins Red Robot as its Director/General Manager of Content and Publishing. In his new position, Davison will manage and curate content, the game community and developers for an unannounced project.
Davison will lead the development and launch of an upcoming technology venture for Red Robot. The product will tap into industry trends, gamers' conversations and foster new social video game discovery. More details about this upcoming project will be available later this year. Davison's role is also key to the global expansion of Red Robot as it signs up more third-party developers on the and launches the upcoming iOS and Android game, .

A widely recognized video game industry veteran, Davison has managed global editorial teams with Ziff Davis and IDG Media and most recently was Vice President of Programming at CBS Interactive Games. There he oversaw all content production for GameSpot and Metacritic, as well as the integration of popular community destinations Giant Bomb and Comic Vine. Prior to this, he revitalized the 20-year-old GamePro brand, reinvigorating both its online and print presence as its executive vice president. As the first generation of gamers grew up, Davison saw an opportunity to educate parents about what kids are playing and launched the award-winning website, What They Play in 2007, which was purchase by IGN/Fox Interactive Media in 2009. During his tenure as editorial director at Ziff Davis Media, Davison helped launch , was co-host of the 1UP Yours podcast, and served as editor in chief for both the Official PlayStation Magazine and Electronic Gaming Monthly.
