Black Coalition on AIDS Receives First Donation From Partnership With My Broker Donates
New Social Enterprise Channels Realtor Referral Fees Into Donations for Non-Profit Organizations

The Black Coalition on AIDS is a San Francisco-based non-profit organization dedicated to reducing health disparities in the Black community, particularly the spread of HIV/AIDS. My Broker Donates is a social enterprise that provides home buyers and sellers with a free service to help them find a Realtor and channels broker referral fees into donations for non-profit organizations.
My Broker Donates began working with the Black Coalition on AIDS (BCA) in September 2011 when BCA Executive Director Perry Lang learned of the new service from Tom Eddington, MBD co-founder and fellow San Francisco-area non-profiteer. Mr. Lang registered with My Broker Donates in January 2012 to facilitate the sale of a family property in Rochester, NY. The transaction, which closed this summer, resulted in a $450 donation to BCA.

My Broker Donates connects home buyers and sellers with up to three real estate agents matched to their particular transaction through an objective, data-driven process. Buyers and sellers choose the agent they like best. Employing the right agent means a better outcome for clients. Those selling a house are provided with the best opportunity for getting the highest possible price. Those buying a house are better assured of locating the ideal property. When their transaction closes, My Broker Donates uses the broker referral fee to make a sizable donation to the non-profit organization selected by the home buyer/seller -- at zero cost to the home buyer/seller or the charity. Mr. McLaughlin, a licensed California real estate broker with 32 years of experience, developed the concept for My Broker Donates after successfully negotiating real estate transactions for non-profit clients. The results of his efforts include a $150,000 donation to the Marin Workforce Housing Trust and a $25,000+ donation to EAH Housing of California and Hawaii.
