November 9th Event Honors Brightest Stars in the Universe of Miami-Dade County Non-Profit Organizations

Please join us at the first annual Switchboard Miami All Star Non-Profit Awards Luncheon, presented by 2-1-1/Switchboard, at Jungle Island on November 9, 2012 from 11:30 am - 2 pm. The event will be hosted by award-winning anchor and reporter Diane Magnum and attended by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez.

Some of them work or volunteer at 2-1-1/Switchboard, one of Miami's oldest and most enduring non-profit organizations. Switchboard began as a suicide hotline in 1968 and has been answering the call ever since. Today 2-1-1/Switchboard is recognized nationally as a leader in the area of suicide prevention by providing training as well as a 24/7 suicide prevention hotline. In addition, Switchboard manages Miami-Dade County's only comprehensive database of over 5,000 programs and services and makes referrals to callers. Last year alone, Switchboard made 170,434 referrals and helped individuals connect to local social services and organizations.
