Edmonton Economic Development Corporation: Pancake Breakfast Celebrates Downtown
(firmenpresse) - EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/13/12 -- Hundreds of students, faculty and staff of , , and members of the Downtown Vibrancy Task Force attended a free breakfast this morning celebrating Edmonton's vibrant downtown core.
Morning festivities included live entertainment from Edmonton Festival City in A Box and special guest servers; Edmonton-Centre MP Hon. Laurie Hawn; Edmonton-Centre MLA Laurie Blakeman and Ward 6 Councillor Jane Batty.
"A vibrant downtown is an essential component for any city," says Tammy Fallowfield, executive director of quality of life. "Edmonton is working to continually improve the vibrancy of our downtown, thanks to many groups, including the Downtown Vibrancy Task Force, the Downtown Business Association, NorQuest College and MacEwan University."
Each day, MacEwan University and NorQuest College bring thousands of people downtown, supporting businesses in the area and adding enthusiasm and liveliness to the heart of the city.
"NorQuest College is excited to be part of the exciting developments happening in downtown Edmonton," says Shawn Terlson, Vice President, College Services and Chief Financial Officer, NorQuest College. "This includes the construction of NorQuest's North Learning Centre, which will help us meet Alberta's workforce needs."
President of MacEwan University, David Atkinson, says, "It's very important to build on our existing relationships to help the revitalization of Edmonton's downtown core. MacEwan University is pleased to participate and help promote the downtown area."
Both organizations have plans for expanding their presence downtown and consolidating all their campus locations here - contributing to an even more exciting and energetic urban core.
