The Brit's tennis victory caps an amazing weekend for British entrepreneur's management business XIX Entertainment

(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 09/11/12 -- British tennis No.1 Andy Murray scored a historic victory in New York last night by becoming the first British man to win a tennis Grand Slam in 76 years. His victory over Novak Djokovic lasted just under five hours and was seen by a TV audience of millions around the world.

But for his manager , the Andy Murray victory capped an even more remarkable weekend for Britain as three of his charges delivered spectacular results for the entrepreneur's business XIX Entertainment.

Firstly on Sunday 9th September Lewis Hamilton, managed by Simon Fuller, won the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, overtaking defending World Champion Sebastian Vettel and rising to second in the World Championship table.

Later that day in New York, Fuller's business partner Victoria Beckham launched New York Fashion Week with her Spring Summer 2013 collection at the New York Public Library, to glowing reviews including "Victorious Beckham's New York Show triumph" (The Guardian), "Beckham becomes New York Fashion Week favourite" (The Times) and "Beckham is heading for fashion mogul status" (LA Times).

But it was the Andy Murray victory at Flushing Meadows in New York that has re-written the history books. His manager Simon Fuller comments:

"It is rare in life when anyone gets to make history. With Andy winning the US Open it makes him the first Brit to win a major tournament since Fred Perry in 1936. What an incredible year this has been for Andy and the perfect way to follow up his Gold medal at the Olympics."

Andy Murray's other supporters in New York included Spiderman actor Andrew Garfield, Sir Sean Connery, Star Trek legend Patrick Stewart, Sir Alex Ferguson, Kevin Spacey, Sir Peter Westmacott, British Ambassador in Washington, and Mr Danny Lopez, British Consul-General in New York.

Mr Danny Lopez, British Consul-General in New York, comments:

"Andy's win in New York last night capped a fantastic weekend for British sport. It was a thrilling match against an incredible opponent and Andy made the country very proud. This win also represents British business succeeding on the global stage and I'm delighted for Simon Fuller and his management company. He is one of the new breed in British entrepreneurs who are working behind the scenes to ensure that our creative talent is supported and is allowed to develop to fulfil its potential. Simon's work for our sportsmen and entertainers has made a significant contribution to Britain's golden summer of sport for all of us to treasure."

The news caps an incredible week for Simon Fuller, whose star country singer Carrie Underwood is also No.1 in the Billboard Country Music chart with her new album 'Blown Away'.
