Adds 911 Capabilities to Unified Communications Systems to Enable First Responders to Go Directly to Emergency Location

(firmenpresse) - PORTSMOUTH, NH -- (Marketwire) -- 09/10/12 -- , the leader in managed unified communications services, today announced that (BCSSS) has added Whaleback's 911 features to its to assist first responders in emergency situations.

BCSSS is a public school that educates over 1000 students with special needs. Because of the student's medical needs, the school often needs to call emergency services several times a week. The campus has five buildings including a large building with a dozen points of entry making it difficult for emergency officials to know where to go when called. Prior to installing the Whaleback service, first responders would be confused about where the emergency was happening and how they could get to it quickly. Valuable time was wasted because the first responders needed to go to the front office to find out where to go instead of heading directly to the emergency.

Whaleback's send location information to the PSAP (Public Service Answering Point) including street address, building and specific room numbers to enable emergency responders to go directly to the emergency location faster and easier. Simultaneously as the call is placed, a 911 call notification is sent via email and/or text to internal emergency response teams allowing the internal team to initiate action to save time.

"Because of the special needs of our students, we need to treat every situation as an emergency. We have to get them the help they need and if it has to come from outside of the school then we do that," said Ryan Van Laeys, Technology Facilitator, Burlington County Special Services School District. "We pride ourselves on having a great staff, but there are times we need to call outside assistance. With the Whaleback 911 feature, we can direct emergency personal to the exact entry closest to where the 911 call was placed. Our children receive the help they need faster which makes our schools safer, so parents and students can feel confident that they will receive the help they need when they need it."
