Statement on the Removal of Individual From "Wanted by the CBSA" List
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/07/12 -- The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, made the following statement today after the Canada Border Services Agency removed Kemford Sebastian Durrant who was apprehended in August by Toronto Police Services. Durrant, who was removed on September 6, is the 20th individual from the "Wanted by the CBSA" list for serious criminality to be removed since it was introduced in July 2011.
"This removal sends a strong message that Canada's doors are not open to those who have broken the law and have endangered the safety of our citizens, said Minister Toews. "Our Government does not tolerate those who come to this country and commit serious crimes and I am pleased this convicted criminal will no longer pose a threat to the safety of Canadians and our communities.
Our Government is committed to removing individuals who are inadmissible because they have been convicted for acts of serious criminality committed in Canada. I would like to reiterate my thanks to Canadians for their ongoing support of our efforts to find individuals who are hiding in Canada and committing serious crimes."
