MGAC to Serve as Owner's Project Manager on the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts
(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 09/07/12 -- ("") was recently selected to deliver Owner's Project Management services for the construction of a state-of-the-art performing arts and teaching centre at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The $63 million Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts ("IBCPA") is being designed by the internationally acclaimed Norwegian architectural firm Snohetta jointly with the Ottawa firm ema Architects, and will be situated near the university on the shore of Lake Ontario. Vice President Michael Grey, oaa, mraic, mba, leed ap (also Managing Director of 's new Toronto office) is leading the Project Management effort with expert support from in-house colleagues who collaborated on the $100M, 190,000 SF, 2,000-seat Strathmore Music Center project in Bethesda, Maryland.
The IBCPA will be the new home of the Queen's Department of Film and Media, and will provide valuable teaching, rehearsal and performance space for the Queen's Department of Drama and School of Music. A 560-seat acoustically superior concert hall will be the centerpiece of the IBCPA. With this outstanding concert hall and the other performance and teaching spaces, the performing arts centre will enhance the artistic and cultural life of the university and the wider community.
The project was funded largely through a generous donation from two of Queen's most distinguished alumni, . The City of Kingston and the governments of Ontario and Canada also contributed funding to the project.
