Original Greek Festival Celebrates Its 46th Year in Houston October 4-7, 2012
(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 09/06/12 -- The Original Greek Festival, now in its 46th year, will be held Thursday through Sunday, October 4-7, 2012 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral Complex at 3511 Yoakum, near the Museum District. Over 40,000 Houstonians are expected to attend the festival, and Kipling will be closed to traffic between Yoakum and Mt. Vernon to allow for expanded seating areas.
Festival chairman Helena Papadopoulos Johnson has been involved with The Original Greek Festival for over ten years. "We pride ourselves on having the best festival food in the city," Johnson says.
"It's the food and the flavors that bring people back year after year. People know that they are going to get a first-class meal." All of the food served at The Original Greek Festival is prepared by a community of volunteers. "That's what sets us apart," Johnson states.
Visitors to the 2012 Original Greek Festival will enjoy the convenience of free shuttle service, the ability to pay for food and drinks at the festival with credit cards, and numerous ATMs on site.
Organizers recommend that guests utilize a free shuttle service which operates from the Lamar High School West Student Parking Lot at 3325 Westheimer, between Buffalo Speedway and Kirby. All shuttle buses are handicapped-accessible, and a handicapped-only parking lot will be available at the northeast corner of Yoakum and Marshall.
Festival admission is $5.00 for adults, with children 12 and under admitted free. Presale ticket packages are $20.00, and include admission, a Dinner Plate, and either Souvlaki, Greek Salad, or a Pastry Box. Purchase presale tickets at the church office, 3511 Yoakum Boulevard through Monday, October 1.
