Statement from Minister Toews on "Wanted by the CBSA" Arrest
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/04/12 -- The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, issued the following statement today on the arrest of Donovan Sinclair in Toronto. Mr. Sinclair is on the Canada Border Services Agency "Wanted by the CBSA" list.
"This individual is inadmissible to Canada under the serious criminality section of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. He has been convicted in Canada of trafficking in a narcotic and trafficking in a controlled substance. I applaud CBSA's Immigration Task Force for taking this individual off the street and making our neighbourhoods safer.
"Since the CBSA introduced the Wanted by the CBSA list last year, 28 individuals have been apprehended. This success speaks to the commitment this Government and all Canadians have in sending a clear message to would-be criminals: our country is no safe haven for those who come here and commit crimes."
Since the list was launched in July 2011, 19 individuals have been removed from Canada and five have been located abroad.
