5th Anniversary of the global Expatriate Network, InterNations
590,000 InterNations members celebrate in over 350 cities
(firmenpresse) - On the 4th August 2012, InterNations, the biggest expatriate network celebrated its 5th anniversary. About 1,000 out of the 20,600 local members who have been invited, joined the team to raise their glasses at “Film Casino”, on the Odeonsplatz in Munich.
Along with Munich, InterNations’ headquarter, approximately 285 cities (among which Singapore, NY, London, Dubai, Sao Paulo) will celebrate InterNations’ success in September. Since its online launch on September 11th 2007, nearly 590,000 members joined the community, which is now active in more than 350 cities.
The aim behind InterNations is to render life abroad easier through social integration. Malte Zeeck, one of the founders of the network, explains their motivation: “Every person who studied or worked in a foreign country knows the difficulties of getting acquainted with like-minded people, to spot the right locations and especially to access important information in a new city.”
In addition, members not only have the possibility of exchanging tips online. They can personally meet other expatriates and locals in an exclusive international environment as well during the 260 global monthly events, or get together in smaller “Activity Groups” according to their interests and needs (e.g. family and kids, professional networking, sports).
The editorial country and city guides provide expatriates with reliable information regarding the country they are going to be or are living in. In forums and online discussion groups, members can also share their experiences and give valuable tips to others on how to better settle down in their new surroundings. Important information, such as international schools, hospitals or restaurants are also recommended.
