Swinton Vans Warns Drivers Against Lending Their Vans to Moving Students
(firmenpresse) - MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 09/04/12 -- As the September rolls in many students will be starting or returning to university and will be moving their belongings into students halls and houses.
Van drivers who are thinking of loaning out their vehicle to students to help them move back to university may be invalidating their policy.
Swinton Vans, a leading high street van insurance retailer is warning van drivers that unless the student who they are lending their van to is insured on the van insurance policy it is probably a good idea not to lend it out.
It may be the case that if the student who is borrowing the van has his own comprehensive car insurance policy, he may be insured to drive the van third party. However, it is vital that both parties check their insurance documents to see if this is actually the case.
The best option is for the van owner to drive the van themselves and personally help with the move.
Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton said, "While van drivers may think they are helping out by lending their van, they may in fact be invaliding their policy. If an accident happens and damage is caused to the van it may not be covered, likewise, if damage is caused to another vehicle this could lead to a heft repair bill for the van driver.
