AIMB-273 with 3rd Generation Intel® Core i Processors
(PresseBox) - iManager 2.0 is an intelligent system management tool that provides a set of standardized APIs, integrating several unique OS independent hardware monitoring/control/configuration capabilities needed by embedded system integrators to enhance reliability, lighten development effort, and speed up time-to-market.
Advantech, the embedded platform and integration services provider introduces AIMB-273, a new industrial-grade Mini-ITX motherboard and the world's first Mini-ITX board featuring Advantech's iManager 2.0. Based on the Intel® QM77 chipset and the latest Intel® Core(TM) i processors, plus the remote management power of SUSIAccess 2.0, AIMB-273 is an ideal platform for a multitude of applications such as medical equipment, digital signage, ATM/Kiosks and much more. The blend of Advantech hardware and value added smart software now brings the benefits of cloud computing within reach of many embedded applications.
Advanced Intelligent Management - iManager inside:
- Advanced Watchdog - AIMB-273 with iManager 2.0 provides a "Multi-Level" Watchdog Timer (WDT) to provide ultimate hardware protection by monitoring and minimizing code execution errors and resetting the system if any occur. With legacy watchdog timers, hardware resets are the only mechanism to recover a system from malfunctioning. But iManager 2.0 offers an enhanced watchdog timer to detect multi-level error events, preventing your application or system from sudden crashes. iManager 2.0's WDT will automatically restart an application, soft-start the OS, or completely reboot the system by sending an IRQ & SCI/SMI reboot signal to the platform. AIMB-273's advanced watchdog provides advanced multi-level protection able to respond to many different types of events.
- Brightness Control - iManager 2.0 provides brightness and backlight control for integrated flat panel displays (LVDS interface). With iManager 2.0 integrated, a system can detect when the display is not under bright sunlit environments through a special hot key.
- Thermal protection - A typical Smart Fan can protect a system from overheating and minimize fan noise. It starts running when temperatures reach preset values and stops when temperatures drop below safety values. However, in many cases when an OS has crashed, such applications (running outside the OS) lose their thermal protection. In contrast with traditional Smart Fans, iManager 2.0 runs on the controller chip embedded on AIMB-273 and can work independently to keep the Smart Fan functional to provide the best thermal protection for the system.
Leveraging Graphic & Display Capability of 3rd Generation Intel Core Processors
With market demands going more towards motherboards equipped with advanced HD graphics performance and higher clock speeds, AIMB-273 mini-ITX motherboard integrates Intel HD Graphics with DX11 support to deliver enhanced graphics performance that supports three independent displays using VGA, HDMI, LVDS, and two DisplayPorts on board. What's more, up to 16GB of DDR3 1333/1066MHz memory is obtainable for two SO-DIMMS. AIMB-273 also has rich I/O connectivity with up to four USB3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, two SATA III ports, and two SATA II ports integrated into a standard 170 x 170 mm form factor.
Integrated Intelligent Software API
Supported Operating Systems include Windows® 8, Windows 8 embedded, Windows 7, Windows 7 Embedded, Windows XP, Windows XP embedded and Linux-hardware drivers for all these OS are readily available.
