SummerWinds Expresses Gratitude for Community Support Following Fire
(firmenpresse) - SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/30/12 -- An outpouring of community support has followed the destruction of the SummerWinds nursery structure in South San Jose (4606 Almaden Expressway) in a fire late Tuesday.
"We are relieved and grateful no one was injured, and humbled by the expressions of loyalty and concern," said Frank Benzing, president of SummerWinds. "We'd like to commend San Jose Fire Captain Mike Van Elgort and his team from the San Jose Fire Department for safely managing the fire, and to thank our many customers, nursery growers and vendors for their ongoing support."
Some of SummerWind's Almaden employees will be involved in the cleanup, while others will be employed at other stores. The cause of the blaze has not been determined. Although the 10,000-sq.ft. building was destroyed, many of the plants were unharmed.
"We'd like to remind our customers of our other Bay Area nurseries," Benzing said. In addition to the Almaden location, SummerWinds Nursery has seven other stores in the Bay Area, including the nearby Campbell store (2460 S. Winchester Blvd., 408-866-0171), as well as stores in Cupertino (1491 S. De Anza Blvd., 408-996-8355), Mountain View (805 Yuba Drive, 650-967-3154), Palo Alto (725 San Antonio Rd., 650-493-5136), Santa Clara (2931 El Camino Real, 408-423-8445), Sunnyvale (861 E. El Camino Real, 408-245-4532), and Green Thumb Nursery (15796 Winchester Blvd., Los Gatos, 408-395-6050).
The privately owned nursery chain prides itself on its loyal employees; the average tenure of its employees is more than seven years. For more information, go to .
