'Clinical Trials in Georgia' Conference Set for November 2nd, 2012
Inaugural Conference Highlights State Resources, Unveils Advances That Facilitate Clinical Trials
(firmenpresse) - ATLANTA, GA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/24/12 -- The first Clinical Trials in Georgia Conference will be held on November 2, 2012, at the Academy of Medicine in the heart of midtown Atlanta. It is being presented by the Metro Atlanta Chamber and several founding partners, including Atlanta Clinical & Translational Science Institute, Georgia Bio, the Georgia Research Alliance and the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
The Conference is designed to spotlight innovations that can make clinical trials faster, more efficient and more compliant, and showcase the available resources in Georgia that facilitate effective clinical research initiatives.
"One of the areas where Georgia excels is supporting and conducting clinical trials and research," said Donna Hyland, President and CEO, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Chair of the Metro Atlanta Chamber's Bioscience Leadership Council (BLC). "When the BLC realized the depth of experience and resources the state has, we decided that a conference which highlights these advantages and showcases new developments in clinical research would benefit the state in many ways."
Georgia offers a wide array of assets that facilitate clinical trials and research, including:
Richly diverse research participant population
Exceptional expertise
Opportunities for utilizing public/private institutional facilities
Skilled, experienced talent available for project teams
Jane Green, Ph.D., President, Morley Research Consortium and Chair of the BLC's Clinical Trials Subcommittee, is heading up the Conference Committee. "This Conference will be revolutionary in the clinical trials world. We are bringing forward new methods and processes to help industry and people across all disciplines benefit from research," Green said.
"We have an outstanding group of dedicated volunteers and community partners who bring a great depth of experience to this project," said David Hartnett, Vice President, Economic Development, Bioscience-Health IT Industry, Metro Atlanta Chamber. "We believe the Conference will not only provide valuable information for those involved with research, but also raise national awareness of Georgia as a highly desirable site to conduct clinical trials. This not only brings more money and jobs into the state, but provides Georgians with access to new treatments for disease."
