The book, entitled "," focuses on the rich history of 88 Exeter Street, including its original purpose and construction, famous tenants, and details of the conversion to a hotel. The book is offered for $8 on-site with $2 from each sale going to the Sean McDonough Charitable Foundation.
Built in 1891, 88 Exeter was formerly a residence in Boston's historic Back Bay, and was recently restored, renovated and expanded into the 81-room hotel. The building's exterior is renowned for its Victorian Eclecticism and Richardsonian Romanesque architectural elements, and many original fixtures and features were restored to their original beauty during the hotel conversion.
The Sean McDonough Charitable Foundation was founded in 2002 through the encouragement and support of friends and family, to raise and distribute funds to children's charities throughout Massachusetts. Through 2010, the Foundation raised $2.7 million, which was distributed to nearly 130 different Massachusetts children's charities.
Each of the hotel's 81 well-appointed guest rooms features window benches and ornate windows.
