ARMORMAX3.9™ Reduces Weight of Armored Vehicles by Up to 70 percent

(firmenpresse) - CENTERVILLE, UT -- (Marketwire) -- 08/22/12 -- (IAC), the world leader in passenger vehicle armoring, today announced the launch and certification of ARMORMAX 3.9™, the lightest weight synthetic fiber laminate used to armor vehicles. Used exclusively in the vehicle armoring process at IAC, ARMORMAX 3.9 reduces the weight added to armored passenger vehicles by 70 percent over traditional steel armored vehicles.

Developed by IAC, ARMORMAX 3.9 is the latest in a series of proprietary, lightweight ballistic materials used in the . It is anticipated that vehicles armored with ARMORMAX 3.9 will have an increased life and less service issues commonly associated with heavy, steel armored vehicles. ARMORMAX 3.9 has been independently certified for protection against handgun and high-powered rifles, by H.P. White Laboratories in Street, Md.

"The vehicles used in the armoring process (Mercedes Benz, Lexus, Toyota, etc.) were not designed to be armored; so, reducing the added weight is critical to maintain the original performance of these armored vehicles," said Mark Burton, CEO and founder, IAC. "With the advent of the ARMORMAX 3.9, virtually any vehicle can be armored to the . These armored vehicles are used on a daily basis by clients around the world, and should not feel like you are driving a tank."

ARMORMAX® is the lightest weight armoring system in the world. The first version of ARMORMAX was developed by IAC in 1994. Today, ARMORMAX is the lightest opaque armor in the industry, yet it is ten times stronger than ballistic steel. Through various modifications over the years, the weight of ARMORMAX has been decreased by approximately 50 percent. To learn more about IAC, please visit: .
