Once there, he followed another family into the terminal, which is how he slipped past the security personnel undetected. The boy made his way onto the plane without ever being asked for a boarding pass or passport, and a headcount did not reveal the discrepancy to airline attendants. The boy's presence on the plane was not detected until it had already taken off for Rome.
