NFL Alumni and MetLife Unveil Snoopy Statue and New Fan Tradition
Fans Celebrate #NYFootballNow and Kick Off #SnoopyHi5
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 08/17/12 -- , the naming rights sponsor of , along with New York Jets legend Vinny Testaverde and New York Giants legend Amani Toomer unveiled an 8-foot statue of Snoopy and kicked off a New York football tradition days before the annual MetLife Bowl at a ceremony outside of Bryant Park in front of hundreds of loyal fans. In doing so, MetLife declared that New York Football Starts Now!(SM).
NFL alumni Vinny Testaverde and Amani Toomer teamed up with two young fans to be the first to "high five" Snoopy - a new tradition of good luck to the home teams and all New York and New Jersey football fans. Once the tradition was begun, a crowd of New York football fans lined up to participate and "high five" Snoopy. The statue will find a permanent home at the West Gate entrance to MetLife Stadium on Saturday, August 18, just before MetLife Bowl II game time.
On August 15 and August 16, MetLife street teams engaged fans in "Random Acts of Football," executing spontaneous pick-up football in key locations throughout New York City, including Penn Station, Grand Central Station and Times Square.
Prior to the noon event on the 16th, fans participated in "warm up" activities, joining the New York Jets Flight Crew cheerleading squad to celebrate the start of football season. Fans received MetLife Stadium giveaways, including gear, VIP training camp experiences and tickets to MetLife Bowl II.
MetLife Chief Marketing Officer Beth Hirschhorn rallied fans around the start of football season, declaring that New York Football Starts Now!(SM).
