The TSA Has Stated That Airport Security Rigors Are Here to Stay -- but Companies Like Securiport Say That a More Proactive Approach to Immigration Control Could Be Taken

(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 08/15/12 -- In the years since the tragic 9/11 terrorist attacks, the nature of airport security has changed dramatically, both in the U.S. and internationally. For some frequent travelers, these enhanced security measures are frustrating and time-consuming. For others, they are recognized as being necessary to maintain security and safety for all. According to the Transportation Security Administration, however, rigorous airport security measures are here to stay. The TSA recently that it would not be dialing down its security procedures any time soon, an announcement that has won the attention of companies like Securiport.

According to TSA Chief John Pistole, airport security remains a major concern and an important component of national safety and border control. Pistole says that, while some security measures may seem cumbersome or frustrating, they are unlikely to be scaled back. "Clearly we've had success in not having a repeat of 9/11," says Pistole. "We can't go back to the pre-9/11 days."

Pistole's comments have won the attention of , a company that markets an Integrated Immigration Control System (IICS) that delivers heightened security measures to airports. Securiport has responded to the TSA's comments with a new press statement of its own, pointing to the importance of proactive immigration control.

"Airport security checks have come a long way since 9/11 but they continue to be upgraded in a reactive way," says the Securiport statement. "In other words, something negative has to occur to get a new security measure implemented."

According to the Securiport press statement, however, this reactive approach to airport security does not have to be the norm. A more proactive approach can deliver strong preventative results, and also make airport check-ins less rigorous for travelers.

"Securiport is devoted to creating advanced proactive immigration control systems that detect travel patterns and can point out criminals before they even get a chance of going through airport security checks," says the company's press statement. "The main goal is to change airport security from a reactive operation to proactive one and always be one step ahead of the criminal."

Securiport's IICS utilizes biometric scanning technology, including ultrasonic fingerprint scanners, to non-invasively gain information from travelers as they come through immigration checkpoints. This information is then automatically crosschecked against existing databases, where potential security risks can be detected. Securiport's system even allows airport security personnel to check fingerprint data against known national and international "watch" lists. The system is useful for preventing potential terrorism risks, but also drug and smuggling activity.
