WesternU's Pumerantz Lectureship to Be Held Sept. 13, 2012
(firmenpresse) - POMONA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/13/12 -- The fourth annual Dr. Philip Pumerantz Distinguished Lectureship at Western University of Health Sciences will feature a guest speaker with more than 30 years of health care experience.
Keynote speaker Cliff Holland is Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Government Affairs & Policy for Johnson & Johnson, with responsibility for all federal, state, and international government affairs and policy. He is also a member of the Corporate Group Operating Committee. Holland's topic will be "Fast Forward: Health Care in the 21st Century."
The Pumerantz Lecture will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 in Lecture Hall I of WesternU's Health Education Center, 309 E. Second St., Pomona, Calif. 91766.
The lectureship, in honor of WesternU's founder and president, Dr. Philip Pumerantz, was established in 2009 as part of a $5.1 million pledge to WesternU by Drs. Daljit and Elaine Sarkaria of Orange. The Sarkarias dedicated $100,000 of their pledge to create the lectureship to encourage and foster exemplary medical research, education and high-quality patient care.
"Our country's health care system is undergoing profound changes. We must not only stay informed, but indeed become catalysts of change by engaging in the discussion," Pumerantz said. "We welcome Cliff Holland to share his expertise and to continue this vital dialogue that will shape the future of health care."
Holland began his career with Johnson & Johnson in 1978 as a sales representative for Ethicon and he has held numerous positions through the years. He was appointed to his current position at Johnson & Johnson Corporate in January 2008.
Holland is a Senior Fellow in the Jefferson School of Population Health at Thomas Jefferson University. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey and a member of the board of the National Committee for U.S.-China Relations. He serves as a member of the Board of Governors for Saint Peter's University Hospital and the Saint Peter's Health & Management Services Corporation, New Brunswick, N.J. Holland also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Francis E. Parker Memorial Home, Piscataway, N.J.
