How water affects drains
There are several different reasons why an area may flood. As well as heavy rain, an increase in ground water levels can also be responsible for flooding. If you've seen flooding on the news recently it is most likely due to surface flooding, which is caused by heavy rainfall that overwhelms the local drainage system.
