(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 08/07/12 -- Big Beat recording artist Martin Solveig has announced the US release of his worldwide blockbuster album, "SMASH." The collection will be available digitally August 21st; a physical release will follow on September 18th.
The album includes the multi-platinum hit single, "Hello" and two versions of Solveig's latest single "The Night Out" -- a remix from rising electronic star Madeon, and another from Grammy nominated DJ and Kanye West collaborator A-Trak. In addition, a special "Digital Deluxe" edition of "SMASH" will be on offer, which features an array of extras including music videos, live tracks, and exclusive remixes from the likes of Sidney Samson, and Les Bros (see attached tracklistings). Also included is the music video for "The Night Out," which just earned Solveig an MTV Video Music Award nomination for "Best Electronic Dance Music Video." The video features a who's who of electronic music royalty, with cameos by A-Trak, Laidback Luke, Sidney Samson, Porter Robinson, Madeon, Dillon Francis and Zedd.
Solveig will celebrate the arrival of "SMASH" with a major North American tour. The dates see the superstar DJ/producer serving as special guest on Madonna's hugely anticipated 2012 World Tour, slated to hit these shores August 30th at Montreal's Bell Centre and then continuing through mid-November (see attached itinerary).
Solveig is, of course, one of the primary producers of Madonna's blockbuster new album, "MDNA." Among his contributions to the chart-topping collection are tracks like "Beautiful Killer" (inspired by Solveig and Madonna's mutual passion for Jean-Pierre Melville's classic crime thriller, Le Samouraï), "Turn Up The Radio," "I Don't Give A (Feat. Nicki Minaj)," and the international hit single, "Give Me All Your Luvin' (Feat. Nicki Minaj & M.I.A.)." Martin is currently accompanying Madonna as her special guest on the European leg of her 2012 World Tour, with dates including stadium shows in Tel Aviv, Rome, Milan, Florence, Barcelona, Coimbra, Berlin, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Amsterdam, Koln, Brussels, Paris, London, Vienna, Helsinki, and Zurich.
As if all that weren't enough, Solveig has also slated performances at upcoming U.S. festivals and headline dates. Highlights include a lead role at New York's upcoming Electric Zoo 2012, scheduled for September 1st at Randall's Island Park.
"SMASH" sees Solveig confirming his place as a leading light in 21st century electronic dance music. The album -- which features Solveig's frequent collaborators, Canadian electropop combo Dragonette, alongside such diverse talents as Kele, Dev, Sunday Girl, and the perpetually regenerating Japanese pop combo, Idoling!!! -- includes a string of global dancefloor and pop hits, including "Big In Japan," "The Night Out," "Boys & Girls," and of course, "Hello."
"Hello," has proven a true phenomenon both here and abroad. The track has earned RIAA platinum certification in the US for sales in excess of 1.3 million, and has also received platinum certification in Australia, Belgium, Germany and Italy while earning double platinum certification in Canada and Australia. "Hello" peaked at #1 on both the iTunes "Top Dance Songs Chart" and Billboard's "Hot Dance/Club Play Songs," while also reaching the top 20 of the "Pop Songs" ranking of mainstream top 40 radio airplay detections as measured by Nielsen BDS.
Furthermore, the video for "Hello" is a true YouTube blockbuster having racked up more than 100 million combined views. Shot on location at the Roland Garros French Tennis Open in front of 12,000 spectators, the track's companion clip features cameos from real international tennis stars such as Novak Djokovic, Gaël Monfils, Olivia Sanchez, and Mathilde Johansson, plus fellow French superstar DJ/Producer, Bob Sinclar as Martin's worthy tennis adversary. The ingenious clip, which received rotation on both MTV and VH1, was also named as "Video of the Day" on VH1's Morning Buzz and was featured on MTV's popular The Seven.
Both Solveig and "Hello" have received rapturous critical acclaim from all corners of the globe with features and reviews in outlets such as USA Today, Billboard, E! News, Entertainment Weekly, The Huffington Post, and Esquire UK. SPIN Magazine named "Hello" as one of its "20 Best Songs of Summer," declaring that Solveig is "shaping how pop music's going to sound in the next few years."
Fueled by the popularity of "Hello," Solveig was named MTV's "PUSH Artist of the Week" in May 2012, followed by his role as on-camera house DJ at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.
