Manchester Enterprise Zone "Truly World Class"
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 08/07/12 -- The concept to develop the was labeled as a "truly world class project" when visited by Communities Minister Bob Neill.
Mr. Neill, was in Manchester at the end of July as part of his role as Olympics Legacy and Growth Minister, attending Team GB's first football Olympic outing for 60 years at Old Trafford, against Senegal.
Visiting the Enterprise Zone as well as Media City and the National Football Museum, the MP commented: "My visit has provided a wonderful opportunity to see, first hand, some of the key local growth projects in and around Manchester. The Media Centre and the Enterprise Zone at Manchester Airport are truly world class projects.
"They will have a significant positive impact on the local economy providing local jobs, supporting local enterprise and attracting businesses to the area."
was designated by the UK Government as an Enterprise Zone in 2011, with the aim of the project to transform Manchester Airport from a transport hub to an international business destination.
The airport location provides the global connectivity on which to build a project revolving around a 150-acre regeneration scheme. Within this will be five million square feet of new high-quality business premises and commercial property to let. The aim will be to attract international companies which would not have located to the region or the UK, previously.
The proposals for the site have already been unveiled to a delegation of more than 200 Chinese investors and businesses in Shanghai at the beginning of July, with the aim of generating millions of investment for the region.
The Manchester Enterprise Zone project is expected to create up to 20,000 new jobs in the region.
