Jonathan North, Representing the Innovative OptiLedge, Is Attending the Upcoming RILA Conference as Retail Leaders Discuss Current Sustainability Trends and Green Initiatives in the Industry

(firmenpresse) - ATLANTA, GA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/02/12 -- Jonathan North, General Manager of the business unit responsible for a called the OptiLedge, owned by Inter IKEA Systems B.V., announces his attendance at the upcoming 2012 Retail Industry Leaders Association Sustainability Conference, September 19-21 in Phoenix, Ariz.

The annual conference's focal theme will be sustainability and, more specifically, the recent green movements related to the supply chain. This event gathers sustainability and compliance executives from every corner of retail and provides attendees with the opportunity to meet and learn from other industry professionals.

"This annual RILA conference has proven to be a fantastic forum for retail's sustainability stakeholders to gather and share thought provoking ideas and trends," said Jonathan North. "I'm sure this year's conference will be no exception. I'm expecting IKEA's recent announcement to remove wooden pallets from their supply chain to generate even more interest in the OptiLedge within other retailers' supply chains. The benefits of dramatically reduced labor costs, fuel consumption and the elimination of back haul are not exclusive to IKEA and are in fact consistent with many initiatives within these other supply chains."

IKEA's shift from wooden pallets to plastic loading ledges, known commercially as the OptiLedge, is an example of the shift toward sustainable and green practices within the supply chain. The change has significantly reduced negative environmental effects by decreasing labor, fuel and carbon emissions.
