HCIWG Report Encourages Timely Health System Innovation, Says CHA
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/26/12 -- The Canadian Healthcare Association (CHA) is very supportive of the Council of the Federation's work to improve Canada's health systems. The Association welcomes the report from the Council's Health Care Innovation Working Group (HCIWG), with its timely focus on scope of practice, clinical practice guidelines and human resources management.
"The Council of the Federation's solution-focused and collaborative orientation to health system improvement is an extremely timely development," says Pamela Fralick, President and CEO of the Canadian Healthcare Association, "and it will be broadly appreciated by Canadians". "Equally important, the participatory and consultative nature of the Council's process over the last six months sets a new standard for political dialogue regarding health policy. Premiers Wall and Ghiz and their teams are to be congratulated on the boldness of their approach."
Bridging what has been identified as the "know-do" gap presents the greatest opportunity for strengthening Canada's health systems. CHA believes that the HCIWG report identifies important opportunities for innovation in the area of team-based practice and for greater cross-jurisdictional collaboration in health human resource planning and management. CHA urges the Council to remain engaged in its leadership role and to build on the work it has accomplished to date.
CHA believes that the Council of the Federation is ideally positioned to take up the following challenges:
CHA's Board of Directors views the emergence of the Council as a strengthened player in pan-Canadian healthcare discussions as a positive development. The Canadian Healthcare Association looks forward to working with the Council in the future to support its leadership in driving needed change for the health of all Canadians.
The Canadian Healthcare Association (CHA) is the only federation of provincial and territorial hospital and health organizations across Canada and through its members CHA represents the broad continuum of the health system.
