Hood Canal was founded in 1934 and has continually expanded its service offerings and footprint throughout Washington state's Mason County. Today, Hood Canal provides a comprehensive suite of video, voice and data services to its residential and business customers. This digital upgrade enables Hood Canal to reclaim substantial amounts of analog bandwidth which is being used to expand its HD and other digital cable offerings.
To accomplish this upgrade, Hood Canal has deployed several RGB products in its headend in the city of Union. These products include the Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG) to downconvert HD feeds to SD, the Broadcast Network Processor (BNP) for statistical multiplexing, transrating, grooming and ad splicing, the Simulcast Edge Processor (SEP) for edge decoding, and the Modular Media Converter (MMC) for ASI to Gigabit Ethernet conversion. The performance, reliability and cost-effectiveness of these products has already been proven in over 200 digital simulcast deployments throughout the Americas.
