Media Advisory: Canadian Forces Contingent to Honour the Fallen at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/18/12 -- On July 19, the Canadian Forces (CF) contingent participating in the 96th annual International Four Days Marches Nijmegen will visit the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery in the Netherlands. The contingent, composed of 187 marchers and 38 Canadian Forces (CF) members and civilians who are part of the Central Band of the Canadian Forces and the Air Command Pipes and Drums, will stop halfway through their daily 40 km walk to pay their respects to some 2338 Canadian soldiers and airmen who died in the various battles to liberate the Netherlands in 1944 and 1945.
Attending the event will be the following VIPs: Mr. David Jacobson, United States Ambassador to Canada; Mr. Randy Hoback, Member of Parliament (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan); Colonel Creg Paulk, Senior U.S. Military Attache to Canada; Mr. Don Love, of Veterans Affairs Canada; Comrade Mark Steele of the Royal Canadian Legion; and Mr. Larry Lashkevich, of Logistik Unicorp.
