SEE's First Ever Collaboration -- Award Winning Designer to Create Special Collection to Benefit amfAR

(firmenpresse) - SOUTHFIELD, MI -- (Marketwire) -- 07/18/12 -- , the country's first "hip without the rip" fashion eyewear boutique, announced its collaboration with Denver-based designer , winner of Lifetime's "Project Runway: All Stars," to create a special collection. Designed by Mondo, SEE will produce an exclusive collection of eyewear that will be sold solely in its 27 locations nationwide. A portion of all sales from "Mondo by SEE" eyeglasses will be donated to amfAR, an international organization that has spent the past 27 years dedicated to research to end the global AIDS epidemic.

"Although SEE is our own brand and is exclusively sold in our stores, there was no hesitation when this opportunity presented itself. Mondo has been a loyal SEE customer for several years, and I was honored and flattered that such a strong up-and-coming design sensation was so enamored with the SEE brand," stated SEE Founder and CEO, Richard Golden. "When Mondo approached us about designing a collection for SEE I was excited and proud to be able to make an exception to the rule of exclusively creating our own product for our stores in order to collaborate on a project that would raise funds for such a worthy charity."

Mondo added, "I'm constantly asked where I get my amazing eyewear and I'm always happy to tell them to visit my friends at SEE. Not only do they have the freshest designs, their customer service is the best in the business. That's why I own more than a dozen frames -- I'm hooked! I'm so excited to be designing for SEE."

"Our company's values include making a difference in our communities and raising money for charities that are near and dear to us. SEE has sponsored the AIDS Walk Detroit for the past 10 years, and has always supported HIV/AIDS Awareness campaigns nationally. Working with Mondo to create an exciting and original collection for SEE while donating a portion of all sales from the collection to amfAR is a dream come true for us," added Golden.

"It is an honor to contribute to amfAR. Their service on behalf of those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS is an inspiration and I'm thrilled that SEE and I can help support their mission," stated Mondo.

The design process is underway, and SEE expects to feature a generous selection of "Mondo for SEE" frames in all 27 of its stores coast to coast early spring 2013. Samples will be made available to press well in advance of the collection's launch in stores.

SEE was created by optical pioneer Richard Golden, who set out to develop a gouge free environment for people who appreciate trendy luxury eyewear without the ridiculously absurd price tag. Sourcing directly from the world's most forward-thinking designers allows SEE to bring true value to the consumer -- thus SEE's slogan... "hip without the rip."

Voted "Best Eyewear" in major publications' Readers' Polls in fashionable cities from coast to coast, SEE has been featured in Vogue, InStyle, GQ, Marie Claire, Elle, O Magazine, WWD and countless other fashion magazines both nationally and internationally.

SEE operates 27 stores nationally, with several more yet to be announced. For more information regarding SEE, please visit or contact Susan Berryman at (248) 354-7100 ext. 498 ().

Denver fashion designer Mondo Guerra impressed judges and fans alike with his bold and playful aesthetic, earning him a runner-up finish on "Project Runway" season 8 in 2010. Mondo went on to compete in the debut season of "Project Runway: All Stars" in 2012, where he emerged victorious, claiming the most lucrative prize package in the show's history -- including an exclusive designer's boutique in select Neiman Marcus stores and online.

In addition to his career in fashion, Mondo is a vigorous national spokesperson for HIV/AIDS awareness. He has recently partnered with Merck to launch a new educational campaign which encourages those living with the disease to establish and maintain an open dialogue with their physicians.
