Ultra-Low Power Lattice iCE40 mobileFPGA Named Finalist in Prestigious e-Legacy Awards
Designed for Use in Consumer and Mobile Electronics, iCE40 Device Family Is Recognized in "Environmental Design" Category
(firmenpresse) - HILLSBORO, OR -- (Marketwire) -- 07/18/12 -- Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that its low cost, ultra-low power iCE40™ mobileFPGA™ family has been named a finalist in the highly regarded e-Legacy Awards competition sponsored by Electronic Product Design magazine. Lattice is one of just four finalists (and the only programmable logic company) vying for the coveted Environmental Design award.
Now in its sixth year, the e-Legacy awards celebrate and reward the innovation of electronics companies. The Environmental Design award for which the innovative iCE40 mobileFPGA family is a finalist recognizes energy-saving or fuel/power-efficient electronic design. "Our iCE40 mobileFPGA family has been designed from the bottom up to be the lowest power programmable logic device targeted specifically for use in the design of mobile and consumer electronics," said Gordon Hands, Lattice Director of Product Marketing for the Consumer Business Unit. "Being a finalist for the Environmental Design award is particularly gratifying because it reinforces our conviction that the use of programmable logic in consumer and mobile products represents the next great growth opportunity for FPGAs, and that Lattice is poised to seize that opportunity."
Finalists were chosen by a panel of industry experts, and the winners will be selected via online voting and will be announced September 13 at an awards ceremony in London. Online voting is available at
The future of consumer and mobile electronics depends upon low cost, low power and environmentally friendly products. Designers of handheld, battery-based consumer products have long awaited a programmable logic solution that delivers design flexibility and fast time-to-market benefits coupled with features that address their power, logic capacity, cost and small form factor requirements. This solution, previously unattainable by other FPGA suppliers, is now provided by Lattice's ultra-low power iCE40 mobileFPGA devices. Utilizing the mobileFPGA platform, mobile designers can quickly bring new features and custom functionality to market with their very own Custom Mobile Device. Designers can achieve this by either using Lattice's development software or by utilizing Lattice's design services.
