Life Sciences Foundation Names Heather R. Erickson President and CEO
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/02/12 -- The Board of Directors of the Life Sciences Foundation today said that it has appointed Heather R. Erickson President and Chief Executive Officer of the organization, effective July 1, 2012. She will also join the LSF Board of Directors.
Erickson, 34, succeeds Arnold Thackray, who served as the founding executive for the organization since its formation in 2010. Thackray will remain an advisor to the Foundation in its scholarly activities.
Most recently Erickson served as President of MedTech Association. Since MedTech's launch in 2004, Erickson has successfully led the development of New York State's first non-profit trade association serving the entire bioscience and medical technology community. Under her leadership, the association grew from four founding companies to nearly 100 organizations representing more than 68,000 employees across the state. She initiated new programs to connect and develop MedTech's members, encouraging companies to share best practices and stimulate new strategic partnerships. She leaves MedTech at a time of accelerating growth and strong member engagement.
Prior to that, Erickson served as Senior Consultant at Edgar Dunn & Company, an independent global financial services and payments consultancy. While there, she assisted clients with strategic planning, including securing venture financing, partner selection, and new product development. She also managed a benchmarking program for an executive roundtable group representing more than 70 percent of the industry.
Erickson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from Yale University in 1999.

The Foundation's success to date has been accomplished under the leadership of Thackray, who is retiring. LSF's publications, website (), meetings, and archiving of information and memorabilia from the biotech industry's growth is enabling this Foundation to create an accurate history of the industry and become the leading educator and communicator about its rich heritage. The Board of Directors and Advisory Board of the Foundation thanked Thackray for his outstanding contribution to the Foundation since its inception.
