Hamburg, 28th June 2012 - The Varengold Wertpapierhandelsbank AG (WKN
547930), a German investment bank exclusively focusing on asset management
with managed futures and capital markets brokerage, aims for a commercial
banking license. The necessary documents and the applications are currently
being prepared by the company. The request has not been sent to the BaFin
(German Federal Financial Services Supervisory Agency) so far. At the
general assembly the amendments to the articles of association regarding
the planned extension of the license are supposed to be put to the vote.
Due to the extension of the license, that would include for example the
business areas credit business, safe custody and deposit banking as well as
guarantee business and payment services, Varengold would be able to
noticeably extend its existing business in the banking sector. This
particularly includes services regarding the trading of financial vehicles.
Because of the higher regulatory requirements and the possible memberships
in security systems of banks, investors may benefit from a higher level of
security.
At the general assembly the shareholders are also supposed to vote on the
creation of new authorized capital and a capital increase against cash
contribution. The general assembly takes place on 8th August 2012 in
Hamburg.
