INFORUM Presents Meghan McCain and Michael Ian Black, a Candid Discussion on Their Bipartisan, Bipolar, Cross-Country Road Trip Live at the Castro Theatre

ID: 1128451

(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/27/12 -- INFORUM today announced that it will host Meghan McCain and Michael Ian Black on July 17 at the Castro Theatre, in conversation with Joan Walsh. McCain is a present day metropolitan leader of Young Republicans and Black is a dry, sarcastic comedian and liberal father of two -- together, they'll cross the political aisle and celebrate America.

Meghan McCain is a best-selling New York Times author, blogger and all-around cosmopolitan woman, most infamously known as the daughter of Republican presidential candidate John McCain; Michael Ian Black is a comedian, liberal, and avid Twitter user with more than 1.7 million followers. Rumor has it that the unusual pairing of this odd couple was initiated via Twitter, with Michael Ian Black tweeting in the dead of the night through the prism of Ambien.

Despite their perhaps inauspicious beginnings, the All-American authors agreed to write a book together, titled: "America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom." It was a good-natured attempt to understand the polarized state of the nation and use their different perspectives to examine the state of this country. Juxtaposed both politically and biologically, Black and McCain agreed to explore all that is the land of the brave -- visiting Elvis' hometown of Graceland, talking to Tea Partiers, praying with Muslims in Mosques in an all encompassing Alex de Toqueville-esque observation of America, wrapped in a snazzy, comedic insouciant style.

But the oddball odyssey doesn't stop with the book. INFORUM will host this unlikely couple at the Castro Theatre on July 17 to further press the duo to release their hilarity and insights, their moments of clarity and confusion, and their times of fun and fear. Joan Walsh, editor at Salon.com, will moderate the conversation to keep things provocative. Reading their "Love Letter to Freedom" is to die for, only rivaled by watching the chatty vibe of the memoir come to life on-stage -- superstar combo McCain and Black and audience members alike will partake, firsthand, in what makes us all proud to be an American.

Before joining us at The Castro Theater -- get the juices flowing by tweeting (at)INFORUMsf in the weeks leading up to the event, with what you'd like to see for this duo's next project or questions you just must ask them. We'll run your ideas by McCain and Black, live on stage.
