Maarit Lindström Appointed Vice President at OP-Pohjola Group and Representative of Scientific Foundations

Maarit Lindström (41), Ph.D., took up her duties as Vice President and Economist
at OP-Pohjola Group on 11 June 2012. She is responsible for monitoring and
analysing macroeconomic developments and trends, especially from the perspective
of businesses and consumers. She will be reporting to Reijo Heiskanen, Chief
Economist.
On 1 July, Ms Lindström will also take up her duties as representative of the
OP-Pohjola Group Research Foundation and the Kyösti Haataja Foundation. While
the former foundation supports economic research, especially that related to
cooperative banking, and ranks among the largest foundations in Finland
supporting economic research, the latter foundation supports research into
financial, social and judicial conditions among rural population, especially
among farmers.
Lindström came to OP-Pohjola Group from the Central Chamber of Commerce of
Finland where she had acted as director responsible, for example, for regional
industrial and economic lobbying. Before that, she worked as the Chief Economist
for the Central Chamber of Commerce, Project Manager in the Prime Minister's
Office, and as a researcher for the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy
(ETLA) and the University of Helsinki.
