I have always maintained that our strength as a country lies in our diversity. In our cities and towns across the nation, we are likely to come across people from so many backgrounds, who speak many different languages, and who all call Canada home. We are representative of the world, of a multicultural society that not only respects each other, but also makes every effort to learn from each other-and yet there is still so much more that we can do. Today, we celebrate our differences and the similarities that bind us together as a society, as well as all those who have worked so hard to create a smarter, more caring nation.
Canada is known around the world as a multicultural country. Let us continue to work in unity to build the country of which we dream, one where every person, no matter where they come from, has the opportunity to succeed and to live in peace. I wish everyone an enjoyable and meaningful day.
