FIRST Joint European Societies Guideline for Dyslipidaemia Including Raised Cholesterol Highlights That Plant Stanols and Sterols Can Play a Role in Cholesterol Reduction
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 06/26/12 -- The European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) published the first joint European guidelines for the management of dyslipidaemia in July 2011 - a major study which continues to be a point of reference today. The guidelines highlight that lifestyle interventions should be the first step for managing cholesterol in all patients - the evidence supporting the role of phytosterols including plant stanols and sterols is noted as having 'A grade' evidence within the new guidelines.
