Emancipator of Our Inner Monsters, Chuck Palahniuk Brings Out His Own Demons Live at The Castro Theatre
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/25/12 -- INFORUM today announced that it is hosting Chuck Palahniuk at The Castro Theatre on Monday, July 16.
Whoever said truth is stranger than fiction has obviously never read Chuck Palahniuk's work. Author of the multi-media classic Fight Club, Palahniuk has made a career of writing books that tear into western angst, consumerism and our notions of what constitutes a healthy lifestyle. And now, Palahniuk's 1999 novel Invisible Monsters is back with a vengeance. INFORUM brings you face to face with the revamped ride in a one of a kind live show with Chuck Palahniuk at The Castro Theatre.
Remixed with new material and design, Invisible Monsters Remix reads like a road memoir of pills, betrayal and plastic surgery. Fans of the previous version will delight over new chapters and spiffy additional images while newcomers will find a book restored to the author's original vision. Intended to be the first novel published by Palahniuk, it was rejected for being too extreme for the publishing house. It was only after the success of Fight Club that a revised version of the book was allowed to see the light of day.
"I want out of the labels. I don't want my whole life crammed into a single word. A story. I want to find something else, unknowable, some place to be that's not on the map. A real adventure. A sphinx. A mystery. A blank. Unknown. Undefined." -- Chuck Palahniuk
While often dubbed a one trick pony in the literary world as writer of high drama books like "Choke" and "Snuff," Chuck Palahniuk is not one to be easily pigeonholed. Though regularly critiqued for his high-drama style and sensationalism, this inward looking author obviously has a knack for stirring things up, paired with an ability to build a cult following around nearly any topic.
So what's his secret formula? Here's your chance to get a glimpse. INFORUM is hosting Chuck Palahniuk at The Castro Theatre on Monday, July 16. Past events with Chuck have involved inflatable body parts thrown into the audience, fainting and X-Acto knife autographs on flesh -- INFORUM hopes for nothing less to allow guests to truly engage in the infamously psychotic brainwaves mastered by Palahniuk. The Live on-stage conversation will center around Chuck's crazed literary career, past masterpieces like Fight Club, and his new novel, Invisible Monsters Remix, followed by audience questions to pick his twisted mind on any burning topic. Join the brave and get provocative at the charming Castro Theatre for a Monday night no like other.
"Dedicated Palahniuk fans finally have an opportunity to hear how the man who writes these books really thinks," said Caroline Moriarity Sacks, Director of INFORUM.
Don't miss your shot to see Chuck Palahniuk unleash his own inner monsters on July 16th. If you want to get your juices flowing before joining us at the Theatre, tweet (at)INFORUMsf with questions for Chuck. We'll run your ideas by him live on stage!
