Over the last three months the Telecom sector has been the strongest performer of the 10 sectors in the S&P 500 index according to a recent Wall Street Journal article. The sector has recently reached the No. 1 spot on Bank of America Merrill Lynch's ranking of sectors' price momentum relative to the broader market, and earlier this week was labeled "near overbought" by the bank. "They are becoming a little bit more stretched, as far as momentum goes," said Stephen Suttmeier, technical analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. "More investors are aware that these groups are outperforming. You've got to be selective [picking stocks] when you get to these levels."

AT&T currently offers investors an annual dividend of $1.76 per share for a yield of around 5 percent. For the quarter ended March 31, 2012, AT&T's consolidated revenues totaled $31.8 billion, up $575 million, or 1.8 percent, versus the year-earlier quarter. First-quarter 2012 net income attributable to AT&T totaled $3.6 billion, up from $3.4 billion in the year-earlier quarter.
MetroPCS Communications is a provider of no annual contract, unlimited wireless communications service for a flat-rate. MetroPCS is the fifth largest facilities-based wireless carrier in the United States based on number of subscribers served. As of March 31, 2012, MetroPCS had approximately 9.5 million subscribers.
