The Orange County Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI OC) announced the winners of the 2012 Investor Relations Achievement Awards (IRAA). The IR Achievement Awards is an annual event that recognizes excellence in investor communications among public companies located primarily in Southern California. The competition covers a broad range of investor relations communication mediums, including online annual reports, company investor relations websites, investor presentations, earnings releases, and annual CEO/shareholder letters. This year's award winners were announced at a gala awards ceremony held on June 21, 2012 at Andrei's Conscious Cuisine & Cocktails in Irvine, California.
"The Orange County Chapter is unique within the National Investor Relations Institute in annually recognizing excellence in investor communications. The chapter has a rigorous entry and judging process that identifies outstanding achievement in investor communications," said Tammy Perry, Senior Manager of Investor Relations for Irvine, California-based Edwards Lifesciences and Chair of the 2012 IR Achievement Awards. "Each entrant receives constructive feedback from the expert panel of judges on their entries, which is helpful to their ongoing efforts to effectively communicate with shareholders."
According to Cynthia Skoglund, Sr. Manager, Alliance Management, at Beckman Coulter and President of the NIRI OC Chapter, the organization serves as a source of education and information aimed at enhancing its members' knowledge of the capital markets, government and regulatory issues impacting business and trends in investor behavior, as well as providing them with opportunities for professional development in the field of investor relations. Its goal is to anticipate and communicate new directions in the investor relations profession to Orange County IR professionals. "The winning companies of the IRAA awards represent true excellence in their investor relations programs, with communications that clearly outline the company's business performance and its strategies combined with a simple, clear investment message," said Skoglund.
