Haven Holidays Green team leader at , Brian O'Brien, takes some families on a Haven Wildlife Detectives nature walk in Exmouth. The families discovered how to attract butterflies into their gardens, how to tell the age of a tree by giving it a hug, what food you shouldn't leave out for the birds and who lives in the bug hotel!

Haven have 35 parks all dotted all around the coast and with the help of The Wildlife Trusts they have designed some fabulous nature walks discovering wildlife from bats to otters, it just depends which park you are on. Families are given a workbook and resources to help them identify birds and flowers along the way.
The nature walk is just one of the activities offered as part of the Haven's Wildlife Detectives programme. For the younger ones they go in search of seasonal colours. For the more adventurous why not try a walk as dusk falls switch the torches on and discover what happens at night and what creatures can be found! For the older kids there's the opportunity to try out orienteering. Using a map it's a race against time as they locate and take rubbings of fossils and other objects as they navigate their way around the course.
All 35 hold a Conservation Award through the scheme initiated by Professor David Bellamy and 32 parks also hold the prestigious Green Tourism for Business Scheme award. Several parks employ a full time Park Ranger not just to manage the park environment but also offer guided walks and nature-aware activities to holidaymakers that have been developed in association with The Wildlife Trusts.
