England 15/8 to Win Group D
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 06/13/12 -- England are 15/8 with giants, Sky Bet, to win Group D after sharing the spoils with France in their Euro 2012 opener yesterday evening.
Laurent Blanc's men, who are out from 7/1 to 8/1 to lift the trophy, are 7/4 favourites to top the group, with Ukraine 2/1 despite opening their account with a 2-1 victory over Sweden.
The company also has a straight forecast market, where France to win the group with Ukraine runners-up is 11/2, Blanc's side to top the table with England second is 3/1, with Ukraine/France or England/Ukraine forecasts both available at 6/1.
Roy Hodgson's side are now into 11/1 (from 12/1) to win the tournament, but Sky Bet football trader James Munro believes England still have a long way to go.
He said: "England's draw against France is seen as a good result, but it has only improved their prospects for Euro 2012 slightly as they have moved in to 11/1 in the tournament outright.
"In the tightest group in the tournament, the hosts Ukraine were the big winners as national hero Andriy Shevchenko's brace saw them cut their odds from 7/5 in to 8/11 to survive the group stage."
He added: "Group D could go either way at the moment, leaving England's remaining two games an exciting prospect for punters; England are currently evens to get an important win over Sweden on Friday night.
After the opening round of fixtures, champions Spain remain 11/4 favourites to retain their title, with Germany 3/1, France 8/1, with Russia and England both 11/1.
