As governor general, I am much aware of and grateful for the efforts made by members of the federal public service. Those with whom I have worked often exceed expectations and demonstrate a lasting dedication to the Canadians they serve, day in and day out.
The entire public service faces a time of considerable challenge, as organizations re-examine priorities and carefully consider how to use the resources at their disposal. In so doing, our public servants continue to uphold the highest standards of excellence and commitment. You know how to be innovative and put good ideas in practice through co-operation and hard work.
Individually, you improve the well-being of many in your communities; together, you help create a smarter, more caring nation. And for that, I thank you.
