Astronaut Chris Hadfield Invites Canadians to Get Involved in his Next Space Mission!
(firmenpresse) - LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 06/06/12 -- Today, barely six months before his upcoming mission to the International Space Station (ISS), Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Astronaut Chris Hadfield took a short break from mission training in Russia to invite Canadians to participate in the Chris Hadfield World Tour Photo Challenge, thus launching the first of the activities planned around his mission.
Hadfield travelled virtually across the country, stopping for brief visits at 10 science centres(i) and museums participating in this unique, national kick-off event. Students and members of the public were gathered at each location to ask questions about his training and his upcoming mission.
The Chris Hadfield World Tour Photo Challenge is a web-based initiative that invites Canadians to take part in his upcoming mission. While Chris tours the world aboard the International Space Station, Canadians, young and old, can tour the world with him - Chris 2D that is - and share their pictures online!
"I hope people will bring me to places I've never been before! This in itself should be an interesting challenge!" said Chris Hadfield, "I'm really looking forward to looking at some of the pictures that will be submitted."
The contest runs from June 6, 2012 to May 15, 2013, when Hadfield is scheduled to land. Canadians will be able to post photos with the Chris 2D cut-out or add him digitally into their existing pictures using a special tool provided on the CSA's website.
