NAESCO Releases Statement on the Impact of Energy Efficiency on the Midwest Economy in Advance of Their June Meeting in Milwaukee

(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 05/31/12 -- On Thursday, June 7, high level leaders in the clean energy economy will gather at the Hotel Pfister in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to discuss the investment and jobs creation impact of the energy efficiency industry in the Midwest. The workshop titled "Putting the Pieces in Place to Accelerate Energy Efficiency Investment" will examine the evolving role of energy efficiency in a region where awareness of the benefits of energy efficiency is continuing to build and create new market opportunities to generate dollar and energy savings as well as produce good jobs that cannot be outsourced to other regions or countries.

Terry E. Singer, Executive Director of NAESCO, said, "There have been recent notable regional successes in making public buildings more energy efficient. As the magnitude of energy efficiency investment expands and customers see the positive impact on their utility costs, we expect to see an accelerated commitment to the implementation of aggressive energy efficiency policies and programs in the region."

Investing in energy efficiency of buildings is one of the fastest, easiest, and cheapest ways to save money, cut down on harmful pollution, and produce good jobs right now. Investments in building retrofits and energy efficiency can make a real difference in the Midwest economy, by creating immediate and good paying jobs, reducing both energy costs and consumption, and redirecting the monies saved to meet other pressing needs.

NAESCO members are well aware of the economic benefits of energy efficiency. The industry is one of the only industries to grow during the recession, hiring people at a time when unemployment seems stubbornly stuck at levels not seen since the early 1980s. Across the country, the energy service industry has created roughly 300,000 jobs, provided $50 billion in energy savings and $25 billion in public infrastructure improvements since 1990.

For more than 25 years, the National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO) has been the preeminent national trade organization representing and promoting the energy efficiency industry in the marketplace, the media, and the government both at the state and federal level.
