Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women Canada National Committee to Champion the Cause of Disabled People and Women at the Moeen Center Fundraising Dinner

(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 05/31/12 -- Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women Canada National Committee will deliver a keynote address at the Moeen Center for Physically Disabled and Developmentally Challenged Young Adult's Annual Fundraising Dinner . Jiwani is an invited dignitary at the event alongside prominent community leader and media personalities including, Zarqa Nawaz, Creator of CBC show, Little Mosque on the Prairie, Abdul Rashid Taylor, Director of Islamic Chaplaincy Services and Shaikh Abdallah Idris Ali, Deputy Secretary General, ISNA Canada.

At the fundraising dinner, Jiwani's address will focus on the topic, "Breaking Barriers: Equality as a Stimulus for Empowerment." Her speech will shine the spotlight on mobility and accessibility issues facing adults with disabilities. In her address, she will champion the cause of disabled women's empowerment and focus on soliciting support from the Government for building strategic partnerships between civil society groups, Government and the larger community to nourish the intellectual development and facilitate the aspirations and ambitions of disabled peoples.

Commenting on her engagement at the fundraising dinner, Jiwani states: "The Moeen Center's work supports a highly noble and deserving cause. Through public awareness work and advocacy for equality for disabled people, we can ensure that disabled people are allowed to shine out with their abilities, unique talents and thus take their rightful and respectful place as important contributors, innovators and leaders in our society."

The Dinner is a flagship program of the Center that celebrates the outstanding talents and accomplishments of young people with disabilities and their triumph over mobility challengers.
