, the World's Best Tasting Vodka and iconic London bar Artesian at The Langham are to host an intimate this Thursday, 31 May from 6.30pm - 9.30pm, with one of the world's top bartenders, Alex Kratena.
Nominated by the 2012 Spirited Awards as 'International Bartender of the Year', Alex heads up the Artesian Bar at the Langham, which has also been nominated for the catergories of 'World's Best Drinks Selection' and 'World's Best Hotel Bar'.
On 31 May, Alex will be joined at the bar by Joe McCanta, internationally renowned taste expert and GREY GOOSE ambassador, to host , a revelatory occasion dedicated to helping guests discover their personal taste in cocktails and impart his advice on how to find the cocktail for you.
Guests will be welcomed into the Artesian's elegant interior with a GREY GOOSE Le Fizz reception and a selection of delicious canapes, before enjoying an introduction to the world of taste by Alex and Joe. A series of exciting and surprising taste experiments will follow, during which guests will begin to identify which of the five elements of taste (sweet, sour, bitter, salty and umami) they prefer, Each guest will then be guided into the Langham's private dining room, for a one-on-one taste consultation with Joe, who will use their taste preferences to create a bespoke cocktail that is perfectly suited to them at that moment in time.
Designed to give cocktail lovers the world over the tools they need to be able to order a cocktail tailored just to them, Taste By Appointment launched in May 2012 at the Gilbert Scott restaurant, hosted by Joe McCanta with internationally acclaimed chef, Marcus Wareing. Since its inception, Taste By Appointment has also taken place at Gordon Ramsay Holdings' East London restaurant Bread Street Kitchen. Throughout June and July, Shoreditch House, The Savoy, Hakkassan, Rhodes Twenty Four, Nobu and Quo Vadis will also play host to Taste By Appointment, as well as Tigerlily in Edinburgh and Great John Street Hotel in Manchester.
Tickets are priced at GBP 75 each, with 25% of the sale of every ticket directly benefitting the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
