Solar Guide to Benefit From DECC's Delay to Solar FiT Cuts

ID: 1118016

(firmenpresse) - LEICESTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 05/25/12 -- A delay to a further drop in solar subsidies is to enable a Leicestershire-based online lead generation company to install a solar PV system, adding credibility to their business with a view to increasing consumer confidence in the service they offer.

is one of the UK's leading online resources for solar industry news and views and for the last two years has been the go to place for homeowners looking to install a solar PV system. Their office in Market Harborough, a leafy south Leicestershire market town, is ideally situated to reap the benefits of a solar panel installation.

With the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) announcing that solar (FiT) rates are set to drop again from 1 August, from 21p/kWh to 16p/kWh, Solar Guide's founder David Holmes has decided that there's no time like the present to invest in the renewable energy his company so passionately promotes.

Said David Holmes: "It's great news that DECC have finally confirmed an extension to the current feed-in tariff rates. Not least because it allows us to benefit from the higher 21p rate before the 1 August deadline."

"I would urge other businesses and homeowners not to overlook the attractive returns systems continue to offer consumers. So if you've been considering now is most definitely the time to take advantage of the delay before FiTs endure further cuts."

Other changes taking place from 1 August will see an increase in the export tariff which is being raised from 3.2p/kWh to 4.5p/kWh. However the lifetime of the scheme is to be reduced from 25 years to 20. DECC have also implemented a gradual reduction in the tariff which will be dependent on uptake. This will come in to force every three months and will reduce or freeze the feed-in tariff depending on the amount of solar systems that have been installed during the preceding quarter.

To carry out their installation, Solar Guide has chosen to enlist the services of CJ Electrical, who have estimated that a 4kWp solar PV system, comprising of 16 250-watt Canadian solar panels, will provide a total saving of around GBP 1,000 a year.

Explaining his reasons for choosing CJ Electrical, David Holmes said: "CJ Electrical offered an extensive knowledge of how we could save energy that went beyond other solar installers and as a company seeking to become more energy efficient this was very reassuring and welcomed."
