Nationwide CVO Interoperability With Prepass
Florida to Oregon Just Got a Lot Easier
(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 05/21/12 -- PrePass is making interoperability a snap by allowing commercial vehicle operators enrolling in the safety system to have the option of receiving a transponder they can enroll in all truck screening programs in which they qualify.
According to Richard A. Clasby, president and CEO of HELP Incorporated, the PrePass service provider, "If our customers wish to participate in other truck safety screening programs, we want to make it as easy as possible for them."
PrePass is the nation's largest truck screening program. Qualified motor carriers may electronically comply with state weight, safety and credential requirements at over 300 locations in 31 states while bypassing sites at highway speed. Participation by motor carriers is strictly voluntary.
For more than a decade, PrePass has enabled nationwide interoperability by allowing motor carriers to enroll transponders from other programs in its system. Carriers interested in participating only in PrePass were loaned a device at no cost.
According to Clasby, "PrePass will make interoperability easier for carriers by selling them a device when they enroll that can be used in all truck safety screening programs or proprietary applications using this technology such as yard access and other programs. Carriers wishing to only participate in PrePass will still be loaned a device at no cost."
The availability of transponders for use in other truck screening programs does not change PrePass' data confidentiality policy for weigh station events.

PrePass enables states to meet federal requirements.
