Run for a Reason: Take on TAIPEI 101 in 2012 Standard Chartered 2012 - TAIPEI 101 Run Up
Run to Discover Yourself on June 10
(firmenpresse) - TAIPEI, TAIWAN -- (Marketwire) -- 05/15/12 -- Are you ready to challenge yourself in the run-up event of the world's tallest and most high-profile building? This is a challenge that you must complete at least once in your life! Debuting on June 10, the "Standard Chartered 2012 - TAIPEI 101 Run Up" marks the third collaboration between TAIPEI 101, Standard Chartered Bank and the Taipei City government. This year, the run-up, which is entering its eighth year, coincidentally coincides with the 101st year of the Republic of China, thereby adding another level of significance in the run-up of TAIPEI 101. The official slogan of this event is "Run for a Reason" and signifies every participant's positive attitude and spirit of surpassing themselves while simultaneously doing their part in supporting the community.
TAIPEI 101 is committed to constant innovation and change and the run-up event is no exception. For the first time ever, a "Charity Relay Category" is added to the run-up this year, where a team of five complete the challenge of 91 floors and 2,046 steps in a relay manner, giving those unable to independently complete such an extreme event the opportunity to participate and fulfill their dreams of completing a run-up!
"Our aim is not only to promote Taiwan and Standard Chartered on the international stage through a world-class sporting event, but also to raise money for a charitable cause," said Mr. Ajay Kanwal, President and CEO of Standard Chartered Bank (Taiwan) Limited. He expressed that through this year's TAIPEI 101 Run Up, people in Taiwan are also participating and supporting Standard Chartered's initiative to fight against blindness in the "Seeing is believing" program. The Chairman of TAIPEI 101, Mr. Harace Lin, showed his determination by signing up with senior executives of TAIPEI 101 for the relay challenge right on the spot. This will also be Chairman Lin's début in this event. "Many people asked me last year if I was signing up for the run up for the celebration of the nation's 100th birthday. I said 'no' last year because I had already walked up every step of TAIPEI 101. This is the 101st year of R.O.C. and it has a very different meaning," said Chairman Lin. He invites everyone to "Run up 101 in R.O.C. 101" for health and a good cause.
